The estimated population of Cyprus at the end of 2010 was 803.000, of which 385.000 were male and 418.000 female. Greek Cypriots form by far the largest ethnic group. Turkish Cypriots comprise the second largest group, while British, Armenians, Maronites and others make up the rest.
The Greek Cypriot population is almost in its entirety Greek Orthodox whereas the Turkish Cypriots are Moslems. Other religious groups belong to the Maronite, Armenian, Roman-Catholic and Anglican churches. In the area controlled by the Republic of Cyprus government, different races, cultures and religions live together in harmony.
